My actual New Year celebration consisted of me hunched over on the floor painting and drawing and Jaron asking me how many minutes before midnight he should tell me to get ready to countdown. It ended up being 4 minutes...but I only stood up for 30 seconds, kissed him and went back to work. So, these additions to the show are actually work from 2012!

All Day Painting Event For Cystic Fibrosis

Tonight I'm hopping a bus to the city, painting in tow, for a group show curated by artist and real estate professional Mary Mihelic. This group show is taking place in a vacant space donated by Blue Source. Showing art in up-for-grabs real estate is a great way to get the attention of hundreds of potential buyers. It's good for the owners, good for the artists and good for the buyer. I love win-win-win situations.

Art All Night!

Lawrenceville hosted a super fun event this year which I was lucky enough to participate in in three ways. It was the 14th annual Art All Night event with uncensored art and performance and kid friendly activities and take aways.

I had fun live action painting with my new friend Rose Clancy. Our collaborative effort (behind us in the photo below) turned out pretty well. It will displayed around Pittsburgh in a traveling exhibit offshoot from the event. Check out Rose's work at the Mattress Factory.

And my ink drawing "Rise" was also exhibited. It was a great night of family, friends, and art.

"There's Beauty in Tragedy," a group show curated by Natalie Gable will open Saturday, March 5th at New Amsterdam. I will be one of the thirteen artists showing work to benefit Woman's Place, a battered woman's shelter. Your $5 at the door and a percentage from the work sold will go directly to this charity. The show will be up all month long. I hope to see you at the opening!

I currently have work in two exhibits in Pittsburgh.

The first is "I Made It" at the Irma Freeman Center for Imagination. The Center is located at 5006 Penn Ave. Gallery hours are Saturdays 2 - 5 or by appointment. This exhibition is in conjunction with the I Made It! Market happening December 4th & 5th at the South Side Works.

The second is the "Winter Faculty Exhibition" at the Pittsburgh Center for the Arts running from December 9 - March 13th. The Scaife Gallery is located at 1047 Shady Ave. Opening Reception is Thursday, December 9, 6 - 8 pm. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday 10am - 5 pm, Thursdays open late until 7 pm and Sunday noon - 5pm. PCA Galleries are closed on Mondays.

Art Swap in Lawrenceville

I recently moved to the wonderful cornucopia of people and stuff called Lawrenceville. It's hip, walkable and as far as I can tell the only Pittsburgh neighborhood with it's own branding campaign.

Amongst the vegetarian and ethnic varieties of eateries, the small boutiques and the access to parks and river walks is a small but spirited art scene.

I'm attending an Art Swap tomorrow night at the Perk Me Up Coffee House on Butler street. The event is being put together by Michael Devine of Zombo Gallery.

These paintings are from my most recent show, Incurious. The creation of this series coincided with the 30 year anniversary of the Jonestown Massacre, a story which has deeply affected me since my childhood. This work draws from my interest in cult ritual and behavior, the rejection of societal norms, isolation from civilization, unconventional habitat and blind faith.
